The "Standing Stones" on the Tomales Point Trail

Once a year we Meanderers hike from Pierce Point Ranch about halfway to the end of Tomales Point. While keeping our eyes peeled for Tule Elk, we probably walk right past an 800+ foot line of stones that crosses the point, and some large granite "Standing Stones."

This Marin I-J story describes the hike to the end of the point, as well as the rocks to which we've apparently never paid any heed.

So who built the stone line and why? You'll find the answers in this story posted on the Drake High School Website.

You can see the line of stones crossing the trail in this Google Earth image.
