Visit the RCA Morse Code Station at Point Reyes This Friday

As we drive through Point Reyes National Seashore to hike at Bull Point or Chimney Rock we pass the long-closed KPH maritime radio station near "G" Ranch.

On July 12th each year the Maritime Radio Historical Society holds a "Night of Nights" event at the RCA station to commemorate this form of ship-to-shore communication.

Members of the public are invited to visit the receiving station for this free event. The station is usually open to visitors beginning at 3:00 p.m. PDT. See the Night of Nights page or the MRHS site for more details about this event.

Today's Marin-IJ also has a story about Friday's "Night of Nights." Dick Jordan and his wife attended one of these in the past and highly recommend taking advantage of this rare opportunity to look back at an important era in radio technology and the history of Point Reyes National Seashore.
