Road Work Starts Monday at SP Taylor State Park

The long-anticipated repair of Sir Francis Drake Highway through Samuel P. Taylor State Park will begin on Monday, August 6, 2012, and continue for about two months.

A temporary "automatic traffic control signal system" will be installed around the work area to provide one-way passage of vehicles, and sometimes all traffic will be halted to allow the safe movement of the equipment being used on the project.  (Click here for the Marin I-J story about the road work).

If you are headed out to Point Reyes National Seashore through San Rafael-San-Anselmo-Fairfax during the August-November construction period, rather than driving west through the state park, you may wish to turn right onto Nicasio Valley Road at the San Geronimo Valley Golf Course, and drive north to the Point Reyes Road-Petaluma Road, then turn left, drive through Point Reyes Station, and then on to the Seashore. (Click here for a map and directions).
